Tickets to Connection

A project for long distance connection through art.

What is Tickets to Connection?

Tickets to Connection is a project aimed at helping people separated by distance connected using art.Born from the lack of activities to do whilst in a long distance relationship, Tickets to Connection wants to help ease the frustration of finding something to do when on call with the people you care about whilst providing space to be creative.

Have a prompt idea?

As you have probably guessed this project is going to need a lot of art prompts and so what better people to ask than the people who the project is for. So if you have an art prompt idea please share and theres a chance it could be used. You can also get in touch with any other comments you have about the project or just to connect.

Deeper look at the Project

About the Project

When you are separated from someone by distance or physical restrictions it can be hard to stay connected. The internet may allow you to call or text across the globe but falls short in providing experiences or activities to do together. This puts pressure on just the conversation making it hard to think of new things to talk about and make it more difficult to open up.Tickets to Connection wants to solve this by providing “tickets” featuring art prompts and communication points to help guide you on a journey to connect through making art.Although screens are a necessary part of talking to those you care about, it's often impossible to escape them in our daily lives now so Tickets to Connection provides you with art prompts that can be done with a pencil and paper (but you are free to use any arts and craft supplies if you wish). Holding on to this analogue form of media gives you the memory of the moment and something special to send the person/people you care about if you are able to.What makes Tickets to Connection to other art prompts you can find online is the focus on connection. The art prompts themselves to encourage you to reflect on your day, memories, and interests or just encourage you to have fun. This alone might be enough to get you talking, communication and connecting, but if not, don’t worry, the ticket features communication points to help get the conversation started and on that journey to connecting.

So, what's the product?

Tickets to Connection is a set of digital tickets (think of cards) containing the prompts and communication points with a supporting platform that allows you to share the prompts. The tickets will be available to purchase digitally and access on both an app and a website. Whoever purchases the cards can add any other account to a group and select what prompts that group can see. You’ll have the option to have a prompt chosen at random, use ticket of the week or browse your collection. Within this group you can send messages, vote on prompts, share artwork and compare badges. You don’t need to own Tickets to Connection to be part of a group, only to host a group and you will be able to host up to 3 groups.Badges can be earnt my completing prompts, common badges will be for completing a certain number of cards or a set but there will be many random ones too, especially as the project expands.I know it's not always possible to have access to lots of supplies and multiple locations so for the most part the prompts will require only a pencil and paper but if not a symbol will be shown at the top of the ticket to identify if anything extra is needed so you know before you choose it.

Where can I get Tickets to Connection?

Currently, Tickets to Connection is in the early stages of development as a solo university project so being able to purchase Tickets to Connection is a long way off. However, feedback and ideas are much appreciated. Even if you just want to talk more about the project or art related things please reach out.
